Child struggling with task completion

Q: I have an 8 year old son, his in grade 2. We've been in to see his teacher quite a number of times with regards to him not completing his work in class. They've done a Conners Test on him (grade 1 and now grade 2). Had him at the Child Psychologist and is still seeing an Occupational Therapist. The Psychologist did not diagnose him with the aforementioned conditions; rather that he has a high IQ for his age. The therapist on the other hand, found in her therapy that he has a visual perception problem and is giving him therapy to help with that. I make sure he gets a good lunch everyday, (bread, yogurt, fruit and juice). The teacher suggested we put him on Ritalin to help with the concentration but with the stigma attached to Ritalin we were against it. We have him on ADDvance and its his 2nd full month and she says she still does not see an improvement in his work. This is driving me crazy because it feels as if she's pressuring me to put the child on Ritalin. I'm at my wits end here and I need some form of help.
